The most astonishing thing about "Kitty Foyle" is that it was written by a man. Easy to read, fairly smooth moving, and a window into the 's, the book is an interesting read.

BUT the character of Kitty makes me want to scream/5(17). Kitty Foyle, written by Christopher Morley, is a book about a good old American girl growing up in the s and 30s. It was written in and became one of the most popular books of that year. The book was also turned into a movie starring Ginger Rogers/5.

Softcover. Condition: Good. 1st Paperback Edition. Good paperback copy of "Kitty Foyle" by Christopher Morley. 1st paperback edition / 1st Penguin Book printing with no cover price. Pages are brittle; book now in protective paperback bag. Opening crease along spine and big corner crease on front cover.

Top of spine, paper is peeling. First Edition. Hardcover in dust jacket. First printing of first edition. Book is crisp and clean, with reasonably tight binding and sharp corners. Unclipped dust jacket is fresh and bright, with tiny chips at corner tips. The novel that served as the basis for the film with Ginger Rogers as Kitty Foyle, a saleswoman in a New York boutique.

Directed by Sam Wood. With Ginger Rogers, Dennis Morgan, James Craig, Eduardo Ciannelli. A hard-working, white-collar girl from a middle-class family meets and falls in love with a young socialite, but she soon clashes with his family.7/10(3K).

Surprisel. Surprise. This proves how facile Chris Morley can be, for this is a far cry from everything he has done, whether whimsy, humor or intellectualized satire.

And don't be too reliant on the catalogue description, that this story of Kitty Foyle is symptomatic of an era in the Anne Vickers school. This is primarily the story of a shanty Irish girl, how she was born, bred, and put through. Get this from a library. Kitty Foyle. [Christopher Morley] -- An Irish-American white-collar girl, struggling to make a better life for herself in a Philadelphia industrial district, falls in love with a young socialite, despite the objections of his family.
